Got the same superior room booked online with bathroom, blackout curtains. A microwave, an electric kettle and a refrigerator were very handy. Location: the hotel was very close to the Basin Reserve, Te Papa n war memorial museums and many restaurants and bars. I had coffee at Nougatine Cafe, located within 5 minutes walk...

I found the guest house to be warm and clean. The bed was comfortable - and great that there was a heater in the room. The staff were welcoming and comfortable to be around. Breakfast was a pleasant meal, chatting to other guests and the staff. Nice to be able to check in pretty much on arrival in Wellington; and the staff kindly let me leave my bag there on the second day so I didn't have to lug it around all day. Fantastic that they organised the airport shuttle too!!
Possibly my only suggestion would be that it would be nice if each downstairs room had a small kettle, tea bags, sugar etc. Or even one kettle and cups, spoons, tea etc on a little table in the passage. Preferably the former. It's wet and cold going up to the dining room at night. Not very pleasant having to drag on all weather shoes and raincoat to go upstairs to make tea: especially if already in PJ's. And I only brought one pair of shoes - boots!

Room heating could be upgraded. Electric jug in room would have been good along with glass(es) and cup(s)

Friendly and helpful duty manager. Free WiFi. Adequate continental breakfast. Prompt owner email contact re unpleasant experience with I had with the bedroom (See below).
The basement level room was damp and musty, curtains very mouldy and unpleasant odour. I refused to pay full tarriff and paid at a discount. Owner emailed me later after departure same day and apologised about the establishment's bedroom experience and is rectifying.

The location here was great, right in the middle of everything. Our room was one of a kind - pretty spacious, it had a big, modern bathroom with all the latest gadgets and a fantastic shower 🚿.

Convenient as close to city. Rooms comfortable and clean even though it's not flash. I was comfortable in my en-suite room. Breakfast simple but adequate. I chose Richmond House over a single room at a couple of backpackers which were the same price because Richmond House included breakfast.
First appearance made me wonder if it was a bit run down - maybe if I hadn't pre-booked I might have walked away. I booked it for the online rate, I probably wouldn't have if gone there at the usual rate.
